GST Invoice Software for Architects and Interior Designers

Raise stage-wise fee invoices where the GST works itself out — CGST and SGST inside your state, IGST outside it — with the right SAC code, a valid invoice number and the amount in words, ready as a PDF.

GST invoice software for architects creates tax invoices for professional fees with the tax split decided by the place of supply. Intra-state invoices charge CGST 9% and SGST 9%; inter-state invoices charge IGST 18%. ProjectSathi also applies the SAC code, numbers invoices uniquely for each financial year and writes the total in words.

The tax split, decided by the place of supply

Whether an invoice carries CGST and SGST or IGST depends on the place of supply. ProjectSathi starts from the client's state, and you can change it to the property's state on any invoice: when it matches your studio's state, the invoice charges CGST 9% and SGST 9%; when it doesn't, IGST 18%. The client record holds their state and GSTIN, so nobody picks the tax type by hand.

One caution: for architectural and interior design work on a building, the law ties the place of supply to where the property is. Usually the client and the site are in the same state; when they aren't — a Mumbai client building a house in Goa — set the place of supply to Goa on the invoice and the split recalculates. Confirm the treatment with your CA.

SAC codes from the project type

Each line carries a SAC code: 998322 for architectural services on residential projects, 998323 for non-residential, and 998391 for interior design, with advisory (998321) and landscape (998328) codes available. The default follows the project type, and you can change it per line.

Invoice numbers that follow the rules

GST invoice numbers must be a consecutive serial, unique for the financial year (1 April to 31 March), no longer than 16 characters and made of letters, digits, hyphens and slashes. ProjectSathi numbers invoices as a short prefix, the financial year and a running number — SRA/2026-27/0001 — and restarts the serial each April.

Stage-wise fees, PDF, sent and paid

Because each project's fee is split across the six COA stages, the next stage's invoice line is ready when you start a new invoice. The total is written out in words in lakh and crore, the invoice downloads as a PDF with both GSTINs and the tax breakup, and you mark it sent and then paid. Overdue invoices come to the top of the studio home page, and the client sees paid against billed on their portal page.
